TAKE A LOOK AT OUR JOURNEY

HISTORY

Expioe (Pronounced X -POY) Dance was founded in 2011 by Brittney Smith, a licensed and accredited Dance Instructor in the state of Washington.

Partnering with many Nonprofit and For-Profit organizations, Expioe Dance’s top client is the YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association), with an ongoing twelve year partnership throughout the Puget Sound Area.

The name Expioe was uniquely created by composing letters from the Greek word χρισμένος which translates as “anointed.” With Brittney’s gift of dance, Expioe’s sole purpose is to develop everyone’s uniqueness through music, movement and instruction.

Expioe Dance is proud to be an uplifting dance company that promotes fun and creativity using encouragement and positivity.

MEET MISS BRITTNEY

Miss Brittney

Founder & Dance Instructor

Brittney Smith is a Pacific Northwest native who developed a passion for dance at the age of 7. Training under the direction of instructors from the well-known performing art academy Allegro, Brittney received foundations in both Ballet and Hip-Hop. She continued to hone her skills throughout middle school and high school through participation on the dance team and by entering various dance competitions. From an early age, Brittney knew she wanted to pursue a career in dance.

Brittney went on to study dance and business at Western Washington University, where she refined her technique and graduated in 2014 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. WWU allows motivated students to design a degree and self-select essential classes which provide the necessary background for success after graduation. With her desire to run a dance business, Brittney chose dance, business and child development courses while completing her degree.

After graduation, Brittney pursued additional dance training at the highly regarded ADF (American Dance Festival) and Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and with well known instructors such as Baba Chuck Davis (The King of African Dance), Shoerone Price and T. Lang.

Today Brittney teaches dance to kids throughout Washington State. Her greater mission is to bring dance to children across the world who have no previous dance training – building their self-esteem, increasing their confidence and sense of rhythm through their enjoyment of dance.
